One Hundred Years of Italian Excellence in Hosiery: The District Celebrates Its Centenary

The Italian hosiery district celebrates a historic milestone: 100 years of production excellence. With approximately 10,000 employees and 92 companies, the district generates a turnover of over one billion euros, establishing itself as a global reference point in the production of women's stockings and tights, sports socks, medical hosiery, and seamless products.

The centenary celebrations took place at the opening of Milan Fashion Week at Palazzo Lombardia, where institutions, stakeholders, and companies discussed the challenges and prospects of the sector. Despite the difficulties of recent years, the district has strengthened its commitment, investing in specialized technical training, supporting SMEs, and promoting shared strategies between institutions, companies, and schools. The recognition of the district as a strategic production supply chain by the Lombardy Region further consolidates its role and growth prospects.

The future of the sector will increasingly depend on environmental and social sustainability, the capacity for innovation, and the credibility of companies on an international level.
