AMNI SOUL ECO®

WHAT IS AMNI SOUL ECO®?

It is a state-of-the-art biodegradable polyamide yarn. Due to its special composition, AMNI SOUL ECO® facilitates accelerated degradation under anaerobic landfill conditions, allowing bacteria to access and digest the waste material more quickly. It also accelerates the degradation of microplastics released during garment washing. This innovative, eco-friendly fabric yarn is eliminated from the planet in about 5 years, unlike other textile fibers that take decades to decompose.

 

AMNI SOUL ECO®, like other degradable products, decomposes into organic matter (biomass) and biogas once in landfills. These can be used as new resources for the environment and even contribute to the generation of electricity. This environmentally friendly polyamide represents a significant breakthrough towards a more sustainable future.

With AMNI SOUL ECO® it is possible to make lighter fabrics than cotton or polyester fabrics, while maintaining the same conditions.

 

BREATHABILITY
AMNI SOUL ECO® offers excellent performance in moisture management, keeping the skin cool and dry according to the UNI EN ISO 62 standard.

 

RESISTANCE AND BRIGHT COLORS
AMNI SOUL ECO® is designed for maximum dyeing performance. Fabrics and garments made with this biodegradable fiber have the same fastness as those made with virgin polyamide.

THE SECRET OF SUSTAINABLE YARNS

AMNI SOUL ECO® technology is part of a new generation of sustainable yarns produced with environmentally friendly processes.

he secret of AMNI SOUL ECO® lies in its improved polyamide 6.6 formula, developed by the Solvay Group and produced by FULGAR. This innovative composition allows the fiber to decompose faster in anaerobic landfills and in the marine environment at the end of the garment's life.

Data shows that more than 50 percent of end-of-life clothing ends up in landfills. In these environments, garments made with AMNI SOUL ECO® yarns decompose 10 times faster than other synthetic fibers.

During garment use, microplastics released from the fiber during home laundering decompose 20 times faster in the marine environment than other synthetic fibers.

Degradation results were determined using standard ASTM D5511 and ASTM D6691 test methods.

LCA - Life Cycle Assessment is a process of evaluating the effects that a product has on the environment over the entire period of its life thereby increasing resource-use efficiency and decreasing liabilities. It can be used to study the environmental impact of either a product or the function the product is designed to perform, identifying and quantifying the environmental loads involved; e.g. the energy and raw materials consumed and the emissions generated. Also, evaluating the potential environmental impacts of these loads allow assessing the options available for reducing these environmental impacts.

ASTM D6691 - Standard Test Method for Determining Aerobic Biodegradation of Plastic Materials in the Marine Environment by a Defined Microbial Consortium or Natural Sea Water Inoculum.

This is an aqueous aerobic biodegradability test that determines the degree and rate of aerobic biodegradation of plastic materials in seawater. Biodegradation is followed by measuring the evolution of CO2 using a suitable, analytical method.
