Polyamide 6.6 Single and Double Covered Yarns

Fine covered yarns designed for superior visual, tactile and mechanical performance

Fulgar’s range of fine covered yarns is among the most extensive on the market. These yarns are specifically designed for fabrics and garments that require a high level of aesthetic quality, excellent hand feel, and outstanding mechanical performance.

Covered yarns are widely used in premium apparel, lingerie, hosiery, and performance wear, where comfort, durability, and appearance are essential.

Polyamide 6.6 Single and Double Covered Yarns

How are they made?

Single covered yarns are produced by helically wrapping a polyamide 6.6 filament around a LYCRA® fibre core. The polyamide used may be parallel, textured, or microfilament-based. The number of wrapping turns directly influences yarn uniformity, coverage, and overall performance quality.

Double covered yarns are obtained by wrapping two polyamide filaments around the LYCRA® core in opposite directions (S and Z twist). This balanced construction ensures excellent stability, coverage, and elasticity. Both parallel and textured polyamide yarns can be used in the process, depending on the desired final fabric characteristics.
Double covered yarns are widely used in high-end garments, underwear, and hosiery applications where comfort and performance must coexist.

Key Properties

Hand feel
Depending on the construction and yarn selection, covered yarns can deliver either a soft, warm touch or a smooth, silky and fresh hand feel.

Elasticity and comfort
The combination of LYCRA® fibre with precision-covered polyamide ensures excellent elasticity, superior comfort, and perfect shape recovery, even after repeated use.

Durability and protection
The polyamide covering protects the LYCRA® core from abrasion and mechanical stress, significantly enhancing garment durability and extending product lifespan.
