BR4/E1 arrives at Performance Days

The new generation of bio-based technical fabrics developed by BRUGNOLI in synergy with FULGAR and THE LYCRA COMPANY

On the occasion of Performance Days, taking place on March 18–19 in Munich, Brugnoli – a historic Italian company and leader in the production of circular knitted fabrics, and for over 10 years committed to developing bio-based solutions – presents a supply chain project involving two leading partners, combining advanced materials, technical expertise and cutting-edge design with a shared goal: making the future of textiles increasingly sustainable.

The collaboration between Brugnoli, Fulgar and The LYCRA Company brings to life a new fabric that reaches 89% bio-based content, while maintaining high standards in elasticity, comfort, durability and performance, and reducing the environmental impact of materials intended for technical apparel.

Br4/E1 combines three distinctive elements:

Brugnoli’s proprietary Br4® technology, a patented production process specifically designed for elastic fabrics with bio-based polyamide, which optimizes water and energy consumption during dyeing and finishing by up to 20% less compared to traditional production processes.

EVO® by Fulgar, a polyamide derived 100% from renewable sources such as castor oil and industrial corn, completely free from petroleum derivatives. According to LCA analyses conducted by Fulgar in 2024, its use allows a 45% reduction in climate change impact and an 86% reduction in ecotoxicity compared to conventional PA 6.6 polyamide, with a significant decrease also in marine and terrestrial eutrophication phenomena.

The renewable LYCRA® EcoMade fiber by The LYCRA Company, a bio-based elastomer composed of approximately 70% industrial corn not intended for the human food chain, enabling a reduction in carbon footprint of up to 44% (based on a cradle-to-gate assessment) compared to traditional fossil-based LYCRA® fiber. Since its market introduction, this fiber has become a globally scalable and commercially validated solution, adopted across multiple apparel segments.

A pioneer in bio-based solutions since 2015, when sustainability was still in its early stages in the technical textile sector, Brugnoli has developed over time an industrialized portfolio of bio-based technical fabrics, the result of research, testing and real-world applications. Br/4E1 today represents the synthesis of over a decade of technological innovation, confirming the company’s commitment to making the future of textiles increasingly sustainable.

During Performance Days, it will be possible to discover the new Br/4E1 up close at the Brugnoli stand (Hall C1 - Stand D06-D07), presented in a technical sports outfit consisting of leggings and a top.
