Fulgar: innovation and training for the designers of the future

Fulgar attends FIT seminar in New York

Fulgar, a leading company in the production of man-made yarns, confirms its role as an incubator of innovation for future designers. Long committed to training young talents in collaboration with major fashion schools and academies, Fulgar recently took part in the seminar “Meeting with Experts” within the course “Designing with High-Tech Fabrics” at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. The initiative involved eighteen American students specializing in “Sportswear Design” as part of an international exchange program with the Politecnico di Milano.

During the meeting, Daniela Antunes, Fulgar’s Marketing Manager, presented the company’s case history. For over a decade, Fulgar has been a pioneer in the fields of sustainability and circular economy, standing out for its ability to combine the excellence of Italian manufacturing with technological innovation and scientific research. This approach has resulted in a portfolio of cutting-edge sustainable yarns, including Q-GEO® and EVO®, both bio-based, Q-NOVA®, made from regenerated raw materials, and Q-CYCLE®, a polyamide with the same performance as traditional yarns but with a green soul derived from end-of-life tire recycling.

Daniela Antunes emphasized the importance of education for a more sustainable fashion future: “To build a more eco-friendly fashion industry, it is essential to involve the next generation of designers so they can develop their creativity with an approach already rooted in environmental and social responsibility.” She added: “Sustainability for us is not just a choice but a continuous path of improvement, which we are committed to sharing with young talents in the textile and fashion sectors. At Fulgar, supply chain traceability, production transparency, and a culture of responsible business are essential values that place us among the pioneers of change.”

The collaboration with FIT in New York adds to those already developed with NABA and Istituto Marangoni and is part of Fulgar’s broader goal of creating a “hub” of green-minded 5.0 designers, capable of experimenting with low-impact fabrics and production processes, contributing to a more responsible fashion industry attentive to the challenges of climate change.
