Fulgar guest from the T-REX project
for a political round table on the eco-design regulation of sustainable products (ESPR)
In November, the T-REX Project, which includes FULGAR and other prominent European players, hosted a policy roundtable on the ESPR in Brussels. The event fostered an open exchange on key issues among stakeholders, including brands, manufacturers, policymakers, and other key actors in the textile industry ecosystem. Roundtable participants shared insights and developed solutions through interactive workshops focused on defining recyclability and setting targets for recycled content.
Discussions covered topics such as the criteria that make a textile "recyclable," the challenges of material composition, and the various recycling technologies with their distinctive approaches. During the workshops, participants also tackled the challenge of establishing ambitious targets for recycled content, considering limited material availability, feedstock traceability, and the pros and cons of setting such targets at the material portfolio level versus product-specific goals.
Three panel discussions laid the groundwork for in-depth workshops addressing key issues related to ESPR implementation: defining recyclability, targets for recycled content, and product repairability and durability. Among the notable contributions, Daniela Antunes, Fulgar's Marketing Manager, spoke during the panel dedicated to targets for recycled content, providing valuable insights on addressing challenges and leveraging opportunities associated with adopting ambitious goals within the textile industry.
The roundtable concluded with closing remarks from Lutz Walter, Secretary General of Textile ETP, emphasizing the importance of ongoing collaboration in this area. Fulgar reaffirms its commitment to sustainability and innovation, placing the development of practical solutions for a more responsible and environmentally friendly textile industry at the heart of its activities.
